What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traffic Dispatcher position at Sunkist Growers Inc?
The job of the Traffic Dispatcher (Exeter) was established for the purpose/s of coordinating the movement of sourced finished goods and citrus commodities from packinghouse and third party logistics to the Sunkist Consolidation Center. This position works directly with sales staff and Packinghouses of all levels along with supporting departments to understand and resolve transportation related issues
Essential Job functions/ Duties:
- Conducts dispatch operations of fruit and citrus products to the different modes of transportation carriers.
- Coordinates with all Sunkist operating departments as well as Sunkist fresh fruit sales office personnel for the daily operations of outgoing and incoming shipments.
- Handles related service issues problems that arise from shipment.
- Monitors shipments in transit and takes corrective action with carriers.
- Advises Sunkist operating departments and Sales personnel concerning transit schedules, equipment availability and rates.
- Maintains regular and timely attendance.
- Accomplishes department goals and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Certifications/Licenses, and Experience:
- Three or more years work experience in transportation or related field.
- Must be proficient in the use of common applications in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Must be well organized in terms of collecting and accessing work related documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form; Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and employees, therefore operational knowledge of processes and policies necessary.
- Ability to properly evaluate errors and know what corrective action to take.
- Ability to analyze complex or diverse information and make recommendations based on the analysis.
- Skilled at solving complex problems and implementing solutions.
