Sung's Black Belt Academy is looking for a reliable, responsible, and friendly After-School Van Driver to join our team!
The primary responsibility of this position is to safely transport elementary school students from local schools to our after-school program in Dunkirk, Maryland.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, has a clean driving record, and is committed to providing a safe and positive transportation experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely pick up elementary school students from designated local schools and transport them to our academy.
- Operate a passenger van safely and follow all traffic laws.
- Ensure students enter and exit the vehicle safely.
- Maintain a friendly, patient, and professional attitude toward children.
- Follow assigned pickup routes and maintain a consistent daily schedule.
- Confirm student attendance and ensure all children are accounted for during transportation.
- Communicate promptly with academy staff regarding delays, schedule changes, or safety concerns.
- Keep the vehicle clean and report any maintenance or safety issues.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must be able to safely and confidently operate a passenger van.
- Must successfully complete all required criminal background checks and child abuse and neglect clearances in accordance with Maryland child care regulations.
- Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
- Friendly, patient, and comfortable working with elementary school-aged children.
- Strong commitment to child safety.
- Ability to follow established routes and safety procedures.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a school bus driver, daycare driver, childcare transportation driver, or similar role.
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children.
- Familiarity with local schools and roads in the Dunkirk and surrounding Calvert County area.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM
- Approximately 10 hours per week
- Consistent weekday afternoon schedule
