The Position:
This role is responsible for directing and working alongside crews of Engineers, field service technicians as they complete various transformer installations, repair, maintenance, and inspection projects. Transformer Service Tech have the technical knowledge and ability to perform standard electrical testing/repair on pad mount MV transformers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and analyze Pad mount Oil immersed transformers and it’s components in the field.
- Complete assigned projects. Projects may include but are not limited to the installation, repair, testing, maintenance, swapping, scrap, inspection, and retrofit of transformers with high-side voltages ranging from 400V to 34500V.
- Utilize IEEE, NETA, NEC, and UL standards for testing and safety procedures.
- Perform electrical testing of transformers and reactors including but not limited to bushing power factor & capacitance, TTR, winding resistance, insulation power factor, insulation resistance, excitation, DGA, leakage reactance, and control cabinet functional checks.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Maintain strong client relationships.
- Demonstrate safe work practices and avoid unsafe behaviors.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Transport oil processing equipment, generators, trailers to customer locations
- Maintain oil processing equipment in mechanical working order
- Oversee equipment performance and insure proper function
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights
Minimum Requirements and Competencies:
- High School diploma or GED
- Transformer Mfg/repair , Solar/Battery Energy Storage industry experience is preferred.
- Minimum 2 years overall experience working with liquid filled and/or dry-type transformers.
- Experience welding above and below oil on transformer tanks is a plus
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel 75%
- Experience performing Bushings replacements & NETA std test.
- Understanding of prioritizing work based upon urgency.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environments.

- Contract-to-Hire role based out of Houston, TX, Arizona or Nevada

For candidates in the states of California, Colorado, New York and Washington, the anticipated base pay for this role is between $36 to $40 per hour plus OT. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The base pay offered is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, location, or other factors related to the role.
