Authorization Specialist (ABA, Speech and OT)

Sunflower Development Center is a multidisciplinary pediatric therapy organization offering ABA, Speech, and Occupational Therapy. We’re looking for a detail oriented Authorization Specialist to manage prior authorizations for our growing team. This is a remote, part-time position ideal for someone with experience in medical or behavioral health insurance authorizations.

• Prepare, submit, and track prior authorization requests for ABA, Speech, and Occupational Therapy services

• Communicate with insurance companies, clinical teams, and families to ensure timely approvals

• Review documentation for completeness and payer compliance

• Maintain accurate logs of authorization status and expiration dates

• Follow up on denials or pending submissions and resolve issues efficiently​​​​​​​

• Support the admin and billing teams with authorization-related updates
  
   

• Prior experience with healthcare authorizations required (ABA, Speech, or OT preferred)

• Strong understanding of insurance verification, CPT codes, and payer portals (e.g., Optum, BCBS, MassHealth)

• Excellent organization and time management skills

• Clear written and verbal communication

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

• Familiarity with electronic health record or practice management systems is a plus

• Part-time, up to 25 hours per week

• Flexible schedule; remote work available
