Pay: $30 – $40 per hour

Job type: Full-time

We're hiring a Lead Solar Installer to join our growing solar, battery storage, and EV charging installation team. In this role, you'll lead the hands-on installation of solar arrays on residential and commercial sites while supervising and mentoring a crew in the field. This position is suited for an experienced installer who is ready to take ownership of a team and a job site.

Your leadership and technical expertise will help bring clean, reliable energy to homes and businesses across the community. We're looking for someone with strong technical skills, solid leadership experience, and a genuine interest in renewable energy.

Responsibilities

Installation & Technical

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure precise installation of solar systems
  • Install photovoltaic panels, mounting hardware, DC wiring, and other system components on roof and ground mounts
  • Handle high- and low-voltage electrical connections safely, in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards
  • Use hand tools, power tools, roofing equipment, and machinery such as forklifts/lulls to complete installations safely and efficiently
  • Perform roofing work as needed for rooftop installations, ensuring proper waterproofing and structural integrity
  • Troubleshoot solar array electrical issues independently, and collaborate with engineering staff on more complex problems
  • Oversee testing and commissioning of installed systems before project completion

Supervision & Team Management

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of an installation crew, assigning tasks and keeping work on schedule
  • Act as the on-site point of contact for office and management staff
  • Train and mentor installers on the crew, reinforcing proper technique, code compliance, and safety practices
  • Own job site safety standards and PPE compliance for the crew, including protocols for working at heights
  • Coordinate with other trades and project stakeholders to keep installations on track
  • Provide feedback to management on crew performance and staffing needs

Site Documentation

  • Maintain accurate daily site records, including labor hours, materials used, and job progress
  • Upload project data, parts lists, and as-built photos to the customer file
  • Document and report site issues, change orders, or safety incidents in a timely manner
  • Keep the work vehicle and worksite clean and organized throughout each project

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience installing solar systems, including 1-2 years in a lead or crew supervisor role
  • Proven ability to lead a team on-site , delegating tasks, holding crew accountable, and managing daily job site operations
  • Strong understanding of schematics, blueprint reading, and NEC standards as they apply to solar installations
  • Hands-on experience with wiring, fixture installation, and electrical/mechanical troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with roofing procedures and safety standards for working at heights
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for maintaining site documentation and coordinating with crew and office staff
  • Comfortable operating hand tools, power tools, roofing equipment, and forklifts
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work at heights for extended periods
  • Valid certifications/licenses in electrical work preferred; OSHA 10/30 a plus

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Roof Top Solar: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • (ME Electrical (Helper, JY, Master) or (NABCEP/equivalent) (Preferred)
