Responsibilities:
Develop and execute effective English language instruction for students with diverse linguistic backgrounds.
Utilize research-based strategies and methodologies to facilitate language acquisition.
Assess English language proficiency levels of English Language Learners (ELLs) using appropriate assessment tools.
Monitor and evaluate student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as necessary.
Provide individualized and small-group support to address the specific needs of ELL students.
Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate the integration of ELL teaching strategies into daily classroom instruction.
Cultivate a culturally responsive learning environment that values and respects the diverse backgrounds of ELL students.
Develop curriculum and lead classes in a weekly special subject, Global Studies, to foster awareness of cultural and linguistic diversity around the world and to build civic engagement skills.
Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians of ELL students regarding their child's academic progress.
Collaborate with other ESL teachers, general education teachers, and support staff.
Attend team meetings and participate in professional development sessions.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of student assessments, progress reports, and parent communication.
