Assistant Fashion Designer

Sundays By We Are Sundays is looking for an Assistant Designer to join the Design team in Miami.

The Assistant Designer will play a pivotal role in supporting our design process, managing line sheet updates, sample requests, the status of photos/samples/production fit samples, and being involved with every step of the design process from concept through final approvals for production.

The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and can work independently. The Assistant Designer must work well in a fast-paced environment, abide by deadlines, and respectfully accept feedback. Passionate about design and organized in their approach, this individual must be excited about taking a hands-on role within a design team to support and contribute to the design process.

This role is based at our Miami office and reports to the Head of Design.

Responsibilities Include

• Support the design team with designing and executing four new collections a year. This includes managing new fabric sourcing, tracking samples and development, updating sketches on line sheets, and contributing fresh and innovative ideas to the design process.
• Will provide support in the following; tech packs, design, sketching, and weekly linesheet updates.
• Assisting in assembling presentation boards for meetings and updating boards accordingly to changes and modifications as the collection develops.
• Attend and assist in fittings by updating design comments with factories and sketch updates.
• JOOR upload, including style updates, etc.
• Organize samples for design meetings.
• Assisting on set of our quarterly seasonal photoshoots
• Extra hand with general design studio management and general tidiness and organization along with the rest of the team.

Requirements

• A strong understanding of design principles relating to the contemporary casual lifestyle market.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design.
• 1-3 years of experience in a Women’s Contemporary brand.
• Proficient in Excel, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
• Garment sketching on the computer is a must.
• Basic knowledge of creating tech packs, apparel construction, and design.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
• You must be able to adapt to feedback and make necessary revisions to your designs.

Compensation

• Salary range starts at $45,000
