Responsibilities
- Drives vehicle from community area to destination according to assigned schedule.
- Assists residents into and out of vehicle.
- Secures residents' wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs during trip.
- Safely operates cell phone or pager to communicate with supervisor or other vehicles to report disruption of service.
- Maintains vehicles in good working condition.
- Cleans and services vehicle with fuel, lubricants, and accessories.
- Assists with vehicle registration and license plates renewal process.
- Inspects and documents vehicle condition on a monthly and per trip basis.
- Provides miscellaneous pick-up and delivery services as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Safely operate the bus following all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting residents with boarding, alighting, and ensuring their comfort throughout the journey.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure vehicle safety standards are met.
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation in case of accidents or incidents, including performing first aid or CPR when necessary.
- Assist passengers with disabilities or mobility challenges by providing wheelchair assistance and ensuring proper securement.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger counts, and any incidents or safety concerns during your shift.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, passengers, and team members to respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments.
Qualifications
- Valid driver license with no records
- Proven experience in bus driving, transit bus operation, or similar roles involving heavy vehicle operation.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency stop procedures.
- First aid and CPR certification to handle medical emergencies confidently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse residents groups.
- Experience working with seniors is highly preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely when assisting passengers or handling equipment.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
