What are the responsibilities and job description for the Independent Sales Representative position at Suncoast Local?
We build the websites local businesses actually get found on. You get them in the door. We handle the rest.
Suncoast Local is a small, local web-design studio in Sarasota. We hand-code fast, modern websites built to get found on Google and by AI tools like ChatGPT, with a free AI chatbot bundled into every build. We're adding a few driven, independent salespeople across the Suncoast (Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, and nearby).
Your job is simple: open the door. You're not closing deals, quoting prices, or writing proposals. Our founder does all of that. You just get a local business owner to say yes to one of two free things:
a free website audit (a real, branded report on their site — no cost, no obligation), or
a quick 15-minute call with our founder.
Hand it off, and we take it from there.
Why this is different from most sales gigs:
You earn twice. When a door you opened becomes a client, you get a one-time commission on the build and a monthly residual for as long as they stay a client.
You own your clients. The ones you bring in are yours. You keep earning on them month after month as long as you stay active. You're building recurring income, not chasing the next sale.
It compounds. Every client stacks on the last. A handful of active clients means a check that shows up every month before you sell anything new.
How the pay works, straight: 20% of the one-time build price, paid when the client pays, plus 20% of their monthly care plan every month it's active. As an example of the math: a typical $3,000 site pays you $600 up front, plus $30–$120 a month for as long as that client stays. This is a 1099 / commission-only role paid on collected money. No base pay, and no guaranteed earnings. What you make depends entirely on your effort and consistency, and we'd rather be upfront about that.
Why it's genuinely easy to sell: you're giving away something valuable for free. The audit shows a business owner exactly where their website is losing them customers, including whether AI search can even find them. No pressure, no pitch. People open the door for free help.
You'll do well here if you are comfortable talking to local business owners (in person, by phone, or through your own network), are self-motivated and consistent, and want to build something that keeps paying long after the sale. Sales experience helps, but hustle matters more.
