POSITION SUMMARY:
Our high-growth, entrepreneurial company requires an analytical thinker with the ability to communicate effectively. The Controller's primary responsibility is to develop and maintain system of internal controls and documentation to ensure accuracy of financial information. This position will manage the day to day accounting of mortgage banking activities and direct and supervise accounting staff.

Duties and responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations of accounting department, including general ledger activity, accounts payable, cash and warehouse activities, commission calculations, financial reporting, and accounting policies and procedures.
Manage the multiple legal entities' month end close.
Produce month end financial statements and financial analysis. Analyze and review monthly GL activity and apply defined checks and balances to ensure accurate monthly financial statements.
Develop functional P&L's for department managers. Distribute and meet with managers to review financials, trends, cost control and opportunities.
Work with Compliance team and provide financial information to assist in state and regulatory filings and audits. Oversee the preparation of quarterly reports.
Oversee annual financial audit and tax returns. Review and approve reconciliations prepared by accounting staff.
Maintains policies & procedures manual and communicates updates to staff. Maintain the Great Plains accounting software package to ensure efficient/accurate financial tracking and reporting.
Design and conduct internal control testing. Identify opportunities for improving efficiencies of transaction processing and reporting while maintaining key internal controls.
Manage projects, provide Ad Hoc analysis as needed.
Manage and train accounting staff including cross-training.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management. MBA a plus.
CPA preferred

Experience:
Candidate should have 10-12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting. Minimum 4 years of public accounting experience (Big Four a plus), and 3 years of experience in a managerial role.
Experience in financial services industry. Mortgage banking industry experience a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.

Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage and develop others effectively.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Self-starter with action orientation, willing to roll up sleeves and get into the details.
Solid judgment and problem solving skills
Detailed oriented with solid organizational skills.
Must be able to manage staff and deal with tough issues if they arise.

Salary: $100,433.00 - $150,422.00 per year
