Accounts Payable Clerk

Sunburst Truck Lines is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and communicative Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. In this role, accuracy and clear communication are essential: every invoice, load, and payment must be carefully verified, and every discrepancy must be clearly communicated to the right people. You’ll process vendor invoices, verify charges, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure timely and accurate payments. The ideal candidate catches the small details others might miss, communicates proactively and professionally with vendors and internal departments, takes initiative without needing constant direction, and thrives in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, log, and maintain all incoming invoices accurately and on time.
• Match loads to invoices and carefully verify all charges.
• Review supporting documents thoroughly to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Identify, investigate, and reconcile invoice discrepancies.
• Clearly communicate unresolved or unexpected issues to the appropriate departments and follow through to resolution.
• Process driver payroll with precision and confidentiality.
• Manage weekly vendor payments.
• Respond promptly and professionally to vendor inquiries, keeping vendors informed throughout.
• Provide backup support for the billing team as needed.
• Proactively identify issues and recommend solutions or process improvements.
• Perform additional duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

• 0–2 years of accounts payable experience.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain issues clearly and professionally.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and prioritize tasks.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision; takes initiative to find answers and solve problems rather than waiting to be told what to do.
• Quick learner who is self-sufficient, uses good judgment, and takes ownership of their work from start to finish.
