Instructional Assistant - Freeport, IL

Minimum 1 years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Support students in an active elementary school setting as a paraprofessional focused on K-2 instruction within a specialized educational program. This role is designed for a compassionate, patient professional capable of managing a dynamic classroom environment that emphasizes academics, functional skills, communication, and behavioral support.

Location: Freeport, IL

Employment Type: Contract (CSY)
Schedule: 33.75 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 7:25 AM to 2:40 PM
Start/End Date: ASAP through End of School Year (EOSY)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support in a busy classroom catering to students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade
• Assist students with academic tasks, communication development, functional life skills, and behavior management
• Collaborate with instructional staff to implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Maintain a positive, patient, and engaging learning environment that adapts to shifting classroom needs

Qualifications:

• Full or Short Term Paraprofessional Approval through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)
• Experience or ability to work with young children with diverse special education needs
• Capacity to manage an active classroom requiring frequent movement and tailored instructional approaches
