Anoka-Hennepin School District in Anoka, MN is seeking a qualified professional for an onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) position for the 2025-2026 school year. This contract role will primarily serve four elementary schools, supporting a collaborative team including another BIS and the Special Education Administrator.
The position begins January 5, 2026, and concludes June 5, 2026. Typical working hours are approximately 18.75 per week, generally between 8:30 AM and 4:10 PM with some variability. The chosen candidate will focus on promoting positive behavior interventions and supports across multiple schools, including Ramsey Elementary, Madison Elementary, Rum River Elementary, and Jefferson Elementary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments and implement effective positive behavior strategies.
- Collaborate closely with educational teams to develop and support individualized education plans.
- Provide training and guidance to school staff on behavioral recommendations and interventions.
- Employ de-escalation techniques and manage safety procedures; restricted procedures may be required.
- Use data-driven methods to inform behavioral programming and student progress.
- Maintain compliance with district policies and contribute to a positive, safe learning environment.
- Adapt calmly to crisis situations and changing student needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher with Tier 3 or 4 licensure.
- Prior experience as a Behavior Specialist or in a similar role within educational settings.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential holders do not qualify for this role.
