Job Title: Staff Pharmacist

Compensation: $120,000 – $125,000 per year

Overview
Join a respected healthcare organization committed to delivering high-quality pharmacy services in an alternate care setting. This is a 100% onsite role based in Montgomery, AL, where you will play a central role in ensuring safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care. You will collaborate closely with clinical teams, evaluate therapeutic appropriateness, oversee compounding activities, and support patients throughout their course of therapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all pharmacy practices comply with federal and state regulations, professional standards, and internal policies.
- Assess patient suitability for home care and prescribed therapies.
- Compile complete clinical information to create individualized pharmacy care plans.
- Recommend and write patient-appropriate orders; ensure required documentation for billing and clinical care is completed.
- Evaluate laboratory results, perform pharmacokinetic dosing, and make appropriate therapeutic recommendations.
- Maintain accurate medication profiles and perform precise order entry.
- Dispense medications and supplies cost-effectively while ensuring proper authorization.
- Program and troubleshoot medication administration pumps.
- Submit electronic claims accurately (as applicable).
- Document all clinical communication and patient education.
- Monitor progress toward therapy goals and maintain thorough, objective records.
- Ensure adherence to USP <797> standards and oversee cleanroom and compounding activities.
- Maintain QA/QC documentation and complete required training and competencies.
- Provide timely and accurate drug information support.
- Oversee pharmacy support personnel and delegate tasks as appropriate.
- Participate in patient care conferences, including Nutrition Support Rounds.
- Contribute to on-call rotation and ensure proper follow-up documentation.
- Support training of interns, students, and technical staff.
- Step into leadership responsibilities as needed.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, and general computer applications.
- Solid interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, clinicians, and patients.
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required; PharmD or MS in Pharmacy preferred.
- Active pharmacist license in the state of employment.
- Minimum two years of recent acute-care experience, or one year of recent home-infusion experience.
- Strong knowledge of IV admixture services and infusion therapy.
- Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and evaluate complex pharmaceutical needs.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise support staff and problem-solve effectively.
- Flexibility with scheduling and reliability in attendance.
