Job Title: Senior Automation Technician – Equipment
Location: Minnetonka, Minnesota, 55343
Pay Rate: $40–$45 per hour (W2)
Duration: 12 months
Schedule: 4x10 schedule, M-Th from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Position Summary
The Senior Automation Technician is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and operating manufacturing equipment. This role provides technical support throughout the product lifecycle, from development to commercial production.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Lead the technical manufacturing process, including setup, calibration, and operation of automated equipment.
• Optimize manufacturing processes to minimize equipment downtime.
• Monitor and troubleshoot processes and machinery.
• Partner with Engineers to design, build, and test solutions for technical problems.
• Collect data and prepare daily reports for Engineering and Production teams.
• Run diagnostics, calibrate equipment, and perform engineering tests.
• Conduct experiments and investigations with Engineering teams.
• Order technical components and spare parts.
• Provide guidance and training to manufacturing staff.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by offering suggestions and evaluating processes.
• Maintain records and assist in production assembly.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and general maintenance activities.
• Manage internal and external working relationships.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school certification or specialized training preferred.
• 6 years of experience in automated manufacturing; medical device or pharmaceutical
experience preferred.
• 3 years of experience with automation and packaging equipment.
• Technical knowledge of equipment and software required.
• Background in industrial controls and PLCs, with working knowledge of robotics and mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of GDP and GMP requirements.
• Strong documentation and data traceability skills.
• Experience in regulated environments such as medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Familiarity with Lean principles, DMAIC, SPC, and process capability analysis.
• Ability to support engineering plans and technical reports.
• Experience developing, validating, operating, and troubleshooting automated assembly and packaging equipment.
• Knowledge of DSCSA and serialization preferred.
• Demonstrated experience training and developing employees in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, and manual work.
• Lead or supervisory experience is a plus.
Environmental Conditions
• Work may involve extended periods at a desk, computer use, and phone communication.
• Some walking and lifting up to 30 lbs may be required.
• Noise level is typically low to moderate.
• Laboratory environments may involve biological or chemical exposure; environmental health and safety requirements apply.
