Position Summary
Sun Windows and Doors is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to serve as a key HR resource for employees and management and independently manage a broad range of day-to-day human resources functions within our manufacturing facility. This position supports the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, attendance and performance management, benefits administration, leave administration, HR records, compliance, and employee communication.
The ideal candidate will be organized, approachable, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including creating and posting job openings, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, coordinating candidate selection, and extending offers.
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screens, employment documentation, and new-hire paperwork.
- Conduct new-hire onboarding and orientation and ensure employees complete required employment documentation and training.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR questions, policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
- Partner with supervisors and management regarding employee attendance, performance, conduct, and disciplinary matters.
- Maintain and administer the company's attendance and timekeeping processes, including reviewing time records and addressing attendance issues.
- Prepare and document disciplinary actions, written warnings, performance concerns, and employee separations.
- Assist management with employee investigations and conflict resolution.
- Administer employee benefit programs and assist employees with benefit questions and enrollment.
- Coordinate annual benefits open enrollment and communicate benefit information and changes to employees.
- Administer employee leave programs, including FMLA and ADA accommodations, and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records and HRIS information.
- Assist with payroll-related matters, employee timekeeping, and payroll corrections as needed.
- Respond to unemployment claims and provide appropriate documentation and information.
- Work with temporary staffing agencies to support staffing needs and maintain appropriate communication regarding temporary employees.
- Develop, update, and maintain HR policies, procedures, forms, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure HR practices and documentation are maintained in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local employment requirements.
- Assist with employee communications, company events, employee engagement activities, and other HR initiatives.
- Maintain a professional and approachable presence throughout the facility and build positive working relationships with employees at all levels.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee, payroll, medical, disciplinary, and other sensitive information.
- Provide general administrative and HR support to plant leadership and management as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3 years of progressive human resources experience preferred; equivalent experience in management, supervision, or a related administrative role may be considered.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
- Experience supporting hourly employees and a fast-paced workforce preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, attendance, and HR administration.
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and other applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, and management at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard computer applications.
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or equivalent experience is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is primarily based in an office within a manufacturing facility and requires regular interaction with employees and supervisors throughout the plant. The position may require occasional walking through production areas and participation in company meetings, events, and recruiting activities.
