As part of our team, you will deliver exceptional ski and/or snowboard lessons, creating a positive, safe, and fun learning environment for guests of all ages and at the beginner – intermediate levels. Whether certified or non-certified, we welcome instructors who are passionate about skiing and snowboarding, customer service, and teaching. This position will involve working with students, guests, and other employees, ensuring a world-class experience for everyone.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Instruct both group and private ski and snowboard lessons for guests of varying abilities and skill levels. Tailor each lesson to meet the individual needs of your students, ensuring they progress and enjoy their experience.
  • Provide a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment while promoting responsible skiing and snowboarding practices. Lead students with confidence and clarity.
  • Greet guests in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner. Actively engage with guests to ensure a positive and memorable experience.
  • Serve as a Sun Valley ambassador, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, anticipating their needs, and offering solutions to enhance their experience.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with guests, fellow instructors, supervisors, and the snow sports leadership team, ensuring effective collaboration and information sharing.
  • Work closely with fellow instructors, supervisors, and mountain operations staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Participate in team meetings to stay aligned with resort goals and lesson strategies.
  • Lead groups independently, providing instruction and managing group dynamics in alignment with resort policies and best practices.
  • Follow all Resort safety policies and procedures by managing risks, responding appropriately to emergencies and guest needs promptly.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development sessions to continuously improve teaching techniques and snow sport skills. Stay updated on best practices in ski and ride instruction.
  • Be flexible and adaptive to changing guest demands, resort conditions, and scheduling adjustments throughout the season.

Qualifications:

  • A strong passion for skiing and snowboarding and sharing that enthusiasm with guests.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships based on trust with guests, students, and team members.
  • Able to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level or higher and demonstrate proficiency for the duration of a lesson (up to 7 hours per day).
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to the changing demands of the resort environment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of winter weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Available to work weekends, holidays, and throughout the season (November to April).
  • Experience working with or supervising children is preferred but not required.
  • Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, skiing or snowboarding, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching.
  • Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
