What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Dispatcher position at Sun Valley Resort?
The Central Dispatcher plays a key role in the smooth operation of Bald and Dollar Mountains by coordinating communications across multiple departments, including Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Guest Services, Tickets, Food & Beverage, Transportation, and Parking. This position supports both summer and winter operations by ensuring timely, accurate communication and operational awareness.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily communication between the mountain departments and respond to operational changes
- Work closely with Patrol Dispatch during openings, closings, weather events, and emergencies
- Send timely updates to guest communication platforms (text alerts, website, and signage)
- Manage radio and phone communication across departments
- Track mountain access for vendors and contractors
- Maintain accurate logs and reports, including downtime and lockout/tagout
- Draft and implement standard operating procedures in collaboration with management
- Use tools like Excel, Google Docs, and Smartsheet to build and maintain tracking systems
- Support seasonal review meetings by gathering and presenting operational data
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience in mountain resort operations, radio dispatch, and/or emergency response
- Strong proficiency with computers and digital communication platforms
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- ICS (Incident Command System) 100, 200, and 300 certifications required
- Able to remain focused in an office environment for extended periods of time, often for the full shift
- Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
