Sun Valley Academy is seeking dynamic, student-centered leaders to join our Administrative Team. Our administrators serve as instructional, cultural, and operational leaders who ensure a safe, high-performing, and nurturing learning environment for students and staff.

As a member of the Administrative Team, the Dean of Students works closely with the Principal and administrative colleagues to manage student behavior, enhance school culture, and oversee student-focused programs. You will ensure that students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally, while maintaining a safe and organized campus.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Implement student assessment and data collection to monitor growth and inform instructional and behavioral interventions.
  • Oversee student discipline and implement interventions, including Leader in Me habits, in collaboration with the Principal.
  • Enhance student life by organizing student-focused events, assemblies, award ceremonies, sports, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
  • Work closely with parents, teachers, and students to support academic, social, and behavioral needs.
  • Support teachers in managing advisory teams and respond to student issues promptly.
  • Manage the school master calendar and before/during/after school duty schedules.
  • Serve as site test coordinator for AZELLA and AZM2 state testing.
  • Manage incoming student assessments, Kinder contracts, and 45-day screeners.
  • Serve as liaison to the parent coalition and collaborate on SPED programming.
  • Monitor attendance and lead improvement initiatives, including outreach to families.
  • Ensure a visible and active presence across campus during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the day to support students, staff, and community engagement.
  • Oversee logistics for school events and ensure smooth execution of all student-focused activities.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to staff based on classroom observations or evaluations.
  • Maintain adherence to all governing policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the campus mission and student success.

  • Maintain professional attire at all times appropriate for a school environment.
  • Wear comfortable, professional shoes suitable for walking, stooping, and active engagement across classrooms, offices, and outdoor spaces.
  • Be prepared for a highly interactive role requiring frequent movement, supervision, and student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Educational Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience demonstrating improved student learning.
  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work independently while supervising and supporting others.
  • Experience working in diverse educational environments.
  • Evidence of effective use of technology to perform job responsibilities.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • School Administrator License
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to professionally and effectively communicate with educators, parents, and community leaders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills

Mental And Physical Requirements

  • Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Employees must be subject to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Employees must be able to physically manage a classroom with small children ensuring the safety of the children at all times.
