Instructional Coach
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT SUN VALLEY ACADEMY
As the Instructional Coach, you will increase student academic achievement by providing support and coaching for teachers. We are seeking candidates who are reliable and punctual, in order to provide continuity and stability in the classroom and that demonstrate personal values to students in everyday settings. Job duties and responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
- Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the curriculum and varied assessments, the Framework for Teaching, and data analysis
- Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches
- Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with initiatives and recognized best instructional practices
- Create an articulated schedule with building administration
- Provide technical support to collaborative teams within buildings
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources
- Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all levels
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students
- Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's professional growth and students' success
- Develop staff members' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs
- Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement
- Utilize Adult Learning Theory to motivate adult learners to improve professional practice
- Contribute to the development systems and structures to improve teacher practice within school
- Ability to work collaboratively with Director of Curriculum & Instruction and Curriculum & Instruction team
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related subject required
- Minimum five (5) years' experience teaching, with a demonstrated record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs
- Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Arizona Teaching Certification; passing score for the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments (AEPA) in related content; reciprocal Out-of-State Certification or National Board Certification in related content area required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree in Education or related subject required preferred
- Proven ability in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions
- Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
- Demonstrated teacher leadership
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Capable of managing multiple tasks
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time
- Possess prioritization and organization skills
- Communicate effectively within all levels of the organization
- Skilled at working alone or in a team environment
- Ability to reach, stoop, bend, pull and occasionally carry up to 20 pounds
