What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Maintenance/Boat Handler position at Sun-Up Marina?
We’re a small, family-owned and operated marina looking for a reliable team member to help keep things running smoothly. This is a hands-on, outdoor job where no two days are exactly the same. If you like working with your hands, being outside, and being part of a tight-knit crew, you’ll fit right in. This business is centered around the boating community, must be available to work weekends during our busy season.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a marina bull forklift to launch boats (training available if needed)
- Shoring, trailering, and safely transporting boats throughout the marina property
- Perform general marina maintenance (groundskeeping, minor repairs)
- Inspect equipment and report maintenance or safety issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as launching boats, shrink wrapping
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating forklifts or heavy equipment preferred (marine forklift experience a plus)
- Willingness to learn marina forklift operation if not experienced
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Valid driver’s license required
Preferred Skills
- Boating knowledge or marina experience
- Experience with boat handling or docking
- Hi Lo Certification or experience
