GENERAL LABOR POSITION

THE OPPORTUNITY

Sun Construction is currently seeking an experienced and hardworking individual to fill a General Skilled Laborer and Yard/Fleet Manager hybrid position on our team. The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working on various construction sites, being able to lift heavy materials and tools, experience operating machinery, some experience in vehicle and equipment maintenance and be able to safely operate truck and trailer.

THE COMPENSATION

The pay range is from $18.00 to $26.00.

Actual starting wage rate may vary depending on skills, qualifications and experience. In addition to the hourly wage, there are a variety of fringe benefits including Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401K Plan, Social Security Benefit, Workers Compensation, TDI, Vacation Pay, Group Life Insurance to name a few. Some of these benefits require the employee to be vested with the Company for at least one year.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Represents Sun Construction in terms of cleanliness, neat appearance, and when required dressed in company attire and/or wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Manages and organizes the resources within the construction yard, including equipment, machinery, tools, and materials. Ensures the necessary resources are available and properly maintained for efficient project execution.
• Will work closely with Office and Field Management for scheduling deliveries, pick-ups, routine maintenance, coordinating repairs and keeping maintenance records up to date including applying sticker for last oils change mileage on vehicle dash area.
• MUST know and be able to operate and hook up trailers properly including making sure the vehicle and trailer are in good working condition, load is/are secured and observe safe driving practices.
• Submit receipts to the Office to update vehicle/equipment maintenance files.
• Manage, update and ensure compliance for tools, vehicles and equipment tracking sign in/sign out with complete information as to WHO, WHEN, WHERE, WHAT and VERIFY CONDITION of tools, vehicles and equipment before and after use to ensure they are functional, clean and ready for the next person.
• Report any issues and any incidents involving company tools, equipment and vehicles.
• Maintain the base yard and surrounding area.
• Supports the field crews with material deliveries, and other duties as assigned by project managers or foremen/leads.
• Load, unload, stage, and prepare any tools or materials used to complete the building so the crew can operate efficiently.
• Remove and dispose of any trash, debris, waste materials, and keep the site clean and orderly.
• Assist tradespeople and heavy equipment workers as needed with excavation, concrete foundations, rough/finish carpentry, and other trade work as needed.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure you and your team members are free from injury.

Qualifications & Education/Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to use hand tools and/or power tools.
• Must have good communication skills, be self- motivated and able to utilize time management efficiently.
• Be able to lift heavy objects, do physical labor, and other strenuous tasks.
• Some experience using construction equipment: forklift, skid steer, excavator, etc.
• Be able to work in a team environment and adhere to the company's core values of Accountability, Honesty and Effective Communication.
• Has and/or provide their own, reliable transportation to and from work sites; as well as tools to perform the work safely and to adhere to quality requirements.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
