Duties
- Develop comprehensive art lesson plans that integrate curriculum development principles, including visual arts, creative writing, and digital media using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technology tools.
- Deliver engaging instruction tailored to K-8 students’ developmental levels, incorporating classroom management techniques to maintain a positive and productive environment.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparations and portfolio reviews.
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere by working effectively with children with autism, special education needs, and diverse learning styles.
- Incorporate interdisciplinary approaches by integrating literacy education, math concepts, physical education activities, and childhood development strategies into art lessons.
- Manage classroom behavior with proactive behavior management techniques to ensure safety and respect among students.
- Provide academic advising and support for students’ artistic growth, including tutoring in areas such as creative writing or literacy skills when needed.
- Utilize proofreading skills to review student work for clarity, accuracy, and artistic quality before display or assessment.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, school events, and educational administration tasks to enhance the overall learning experience.
- Support early childhood education initiatives by designing age-appropriate activities for preschool and kindergarten students within the art program.
Experience
- Proven classroom experience teaching K-8 students in a school setting, preferably within private or Montessori schools.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development for visual arts and familiarity with integrating learning technology into lessons.
- Experience working with children with autism or special needs is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills combined with effective communication skills to engage students, parents, and staff.
- Background in literacy education, math integration, or physical education is a plus for creating holistic lesson plans.
- Prior experience in standardized testing environments or academic advising enhances your ability to support student success.
