Position Summary
The Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) provides direct mental health services to adults, children, adolescents, and families in community-based, outpatient, and in-home settings. The QMHP works as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to assess client needs, develop treatment plans, provide therapeutic interventions, and support clients in achieving stability and improved functioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide community-based mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families.
- Develop and implement treatment plans and Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
- Deliver skill-building, psychoeducation, therapeutic support, and crisis intervention services.
- Coordinate care with families, schools, medical providers, and community partners.
- Maintain timely and compliant clinical documentation.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Manage an assigned caseload and support agency quality and compliance initiatives.
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour

Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must meet Virginia DBHDS QMHP eligibility criteria, including one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services or related field and at least 1 year of documented clinical experience providing direct mental health services; or
- Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services field and at least 2 years of documented clinical experience providing direct mental health services; or
- Master’s degree in a human services field.
Eligible Degrees Include: Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, Behavioral Science, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related fields.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of mental health diagnoses and recovery-oriented care.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, person-centered planning, and cultural competency.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage crisis situations professionally.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and basic computer applications.
Supervision:
- Supervised by a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) or Clinical Supervisor.
- Group supervision and individual supervision are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in IIH, MHSS, TDT, outpatient, or group home settings.
- Experience with high-risk populations and co-occurring disorders.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.
