QUALIFICATIONS: Valid state license as a Registered Nurse (RN). Two (2) years of experience in public health nursing, preferably in a school district. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

LOCATIONS:
Performance Responsibilities
- Conducts hearing and vision screening tests and all other tests recommended by the State Board of Education and the Department of Health and Environmental Control.
- Assumes responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical and dental care.
- Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.
- Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
- Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.
- Assumes authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness.
- Contacts homes of children referred by principals for health reasons.
- Advises on modification of the educational program to meet health needs of individual students.
- Authorizes exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
- Attends committee meetings and conference regarding health service and health curriculum.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities designated.
