Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manages workflow (work order requests) in the Operations/Fleet Division and reviews contractor’s records and reports of work accomplished.
- Supervises the work of skilled and semi-skilled personnel engaged in maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment. This involves instructing, assigning and reviewing work, planning, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, budget preparation, monitoring, and allocating personnel.
- Monitors multiple shop conditions, including cleanliness, safety, and inventory needs.
- Manages contracts for the Fleet Maintenance Program. Ensures quality assurance and performance measures are met. Makes recommendations for the need for contracted services.
- Acts as the liaison between County, other agencies, and contracted service providers. Confers with Department Heads regarding their maintenance needs and issues/concerns. Communicates the scope of work and the estimated timeline of services. Addresses all warranty issues, coordinates all vehicle safety recalls with the Department and manufacturer.
- Analyze data trends from department software systems to optimize efficiency and enhance customer service while controlling expenditures.
- Prepare detailed reports to analyze equipment and determine the most cost-effective equipment to purchase and implement “best practices” for maintenance by providing in-depth cost analysis, assist in budget preparation for the Fleet Maintenance Program.
- Maintains records and reports of work accomplished. Prepares and process reports on completed work. Reviews invoices for maintenance work performed.
- Operates and transports vehicles and equipment as needed.
- In case of emergency or crisis (hurricane, flood, etc.) position is required to respond/perform recovery duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.
- Maintains regular physical attendance during normal work hours as assigned at one of the County’s offices or work facilities with the ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Perform a full range of duties, working independently, applying well-developed subject knowledge, and exercising judgement and initiative.
- Receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.
- Fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the Division.
- Work is reviewed based on compliance, appropriateness, and effectiveness in meeting goals and deadlines.
- Knowledge of construction, assembly, adjustment and maintenance of a wide variety of auto, light truck, emergency vehicles, maintenance, and construction equipment.
- Knowledge of Windows and computer software programs, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze datasets and develop programs or adjust programmed activities in response to data sets.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to drive various types of vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to operate a computer.
Education And Experience
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
- Five (5) years of fleet maintenance experience in the automotive/truck repair field or contract management and review.
- Valid Florida Class “A” Commercial Driver License with a driving record acceptable to the insurance provider.
- Florida Department of Transportation Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) - Intermediate Level Certification within one (1) year of employment
