Job Overview


We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Certified Ophthalmic Assistant to join our dedicated eye care team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting ophthalmologists with clinical procedures, managing patient intake, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your expertise in ophthalmic techniques, medical terminology, and electronic health record systems will help deliver top-quality eye care services. Duties


  • Perform patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories and updating electronic medical records (EyeMD EMR)
  • Measure and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring aseptic technique is maintained at all times
  • Conduct visual acuity tests, refraction assessments, and other optical evaluations to support accurate diagnoses
  • Educate patients on eye health, medication usage, and post-procedure care with clear communication and empathy
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including documentation of clinical findings, coding, billing, and insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow,


Experience


  • Proven clinic experience as an ophthalmic assistant or in a similar medical office setting with a focus on ophthalmology preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye and visual system
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, billing processes, and EMR systems
  • Experience with optical procedures including refraction testing and optical device handling
  • Ability to perform intake assessments accurately while demonstrating excellent patient care skills
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
