What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caseworker Specialist 2 position at Sumner County Child Support Office?
The purpose of this position is to progress cases through the legal system to ultimately provide and enforce child support. The specialist establishes paternity, establishes a legal obligation of financial and/or medical support and enforces the obligation through a variety of remedies. The work is performed within legally mandated time frames and in compliance with federal and Tennessee laws, rules and regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Secure necessary information from the custodial parent of the child(ren) to complete all necessary legal documents; determine avenues through which to obtain other necessary information; secure necessary financial information to determine an appropriate support obligation in conformance with Tennessee child support guidelines; prepare the necessary legal documents; assure that cases are prepared accurately for the child support attorney's approval. In paternity cases, contact the alleged father and attempt to secure a stipulation of paternity.
Initiate actions to secure payment: wage withhold, liens, contempt; secure medical coverage as stipulated in the court order; conduct reviews and modifications. Update necessary computer screens with accurate information obtained; prepare necessary legal documents. Answer inquiries from custodial and non-custodial parents regarding case status and actions taken; explain the process to all parties involved and initiate timely interstate actions.
Maintain confidentiality and security of case information; maintain good relations with Clerks of Court, law enforcement, and the public and private sector in general.
