STATEMENT OF THE JOB:

Under the Mental Health Services Manager, the Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for providing direct support and services to children.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implementing, facilitating, and educating quality clinical treatment for youth with complex trauma in a group setting.
  • Provide direct services to develop resource information and teach residents to appropriately access community resources and services.
  • Meetwithyouthona1:1 basis with the goal of improving behavior and overall functioning in the home, residential program, and community.
  • Provide guidance, services, interventions, and support to children and their families.
  • Develop appropriate documentation and curriculum for each individual session and group sessions in a timely manner (within72hours) ensuring at least 20 hours of billable services are achieved each week.
  • Work with Clinical Therapist of the house in implementing treatment plans for mental health needs, participating in meetings giving input to clinical team regarding client progress of services as CFT, ANSP, NSP, ICC and IEP. (May be asked to provide documentation if you cannot attend these meetings).
  • Communicating with clinical team, youth, and parents/guardians regarding interventions, updated targets, and successful interventions for the purpose of progress of treatment.
  • Responsible for ensuring electronic health records are input correctly, maintained, and current for all residents in accordance with Summitview policy.
  • Acts as a resource for families and the Summitview team after hours as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB EXPECTATIONS:

  • Follows agency policy for crisis intervention and management skills.
  • Attends scheduled in-service training programs.
  • Attends weekly team meetings.
  • Completes assigned program operational tasks in accordance with supervisory directives.
  • Displays sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures including, but not limited to, confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Works cooperatively with others in a team-oriented manner.
  • Must participate in Performance Quality Improvement and Risk Prevention.
  • Provides and practices trauma-informed care services and methods; actively uses empathy and understanding in treatment of residents.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted California Driver's License; personal automobile liability insurance; and a driving record acceptable to Summitview's insurance carrier.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit; must be willing to complete a health screening including physical examination as required by our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL); and must have the unrestricted capacity to employ physical restraint techniques in a professionally safe manner.
  • Must be willing to present a recent negative Tuberculosis test or be willing to take one.
  • COVID-19 vaccination inclusive of booster doses when eligible is recommended but not required.
  • Must be willing to complete and pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) personal background investigation to meet the requirements of our state licensing agency Community Care Licensing (CCL).

  • To talk or hear.
  • To stand, walk, sit, use hands, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and taste and smell.
  • Is occasionally required to climb or balance.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
  • May have to engage in physical intervention including but not limited to dropping to one's knees, supporting another individual's weight, moving an individual from one location to another, holding aggressive clients, etc. (requiring sustained, physical exertion on some occasions).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth vision.
  • Ability to drive company vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate must have one of the following combinations of education and experience.

Combination One (Medi-Cal MHA I)

  • Zero-two years of experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services.
  • Must have a high school diploma or higher.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.

Combination Two (Medi-Cal MHA II)

  • At least two years but less than four years of experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.

Combination Three (Medi-Cal MHA III)

  • Has at least four years of experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services. Two years of the four years can be substituted with at least two (2) years of education (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with a minimum of 12 semester (18 quarter) units in a mental health related subject area such as child development, social work, human behavior, rehabilitation, psychology, or alcohol and drug counseling.
  • Must have a high school diploma or higher.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.

Combination Four (Medi-Cal MHRS)

  • Master's Degree and at least two years of experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services.

OR

  • Bachelor level degree and at least four years of experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services.

OR

  • Associate level degree and at least six years of experience in a mental health related field providing direct mental health services.

AND

  • Must be at least 21 years or older.

OTHER:

  • Employment is at-will.
  • This position is an hourly, full-time, non-exempt position.
  • Standard work hours are Monday-Friday 10am?6pm though flexibility may be required to meet the needs of the clients and agency.
  • The position is located at the corporate headquarters.
  • Direct care staff position therefore follows WageOrder5 overtime, meal, and break period rules.
