Duties
- Lead and supervise daily warehouse operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping & receiving, and warehouse distribution activities.
- Develop and implement process improvements utilizing Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Manage transportation planning and logistics coordination through transportation management systems (TMS) to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective freight solutions.
- Oversee procurement, purchasing, and materials management processes to maintain optimal inventory levels using ERP systems like AS400 or equivalent supply chain analytics tools.
- Supervise warehouse staff, including forklift operators, dispatchers, and other team members, fostering a safe and productive work environment.
- Monitor budget adherence by managing profit & loss responsibilities related to warehouse operations while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) partners to streamline freight forwarding and shipping activities.
- Implement supply chain management strategies that improve demand planning, production planning, and inventory management accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, warehouse procedures, and regulatory requirements across all operations.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to optimize space utilization, inventory accuracy, and order processing efficiency.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of operational metrics; analyze data to identify trends and areas for process enhancement.
- Lead initiatives in supply chain analytics to forecast demand accurately and improve overall logistics performance.
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse supervision with a strong background in operations management within a fast-paced environment.
- Expertise in supply chain management principles including inventory control, procurement, demand planning, and logistics coordination.
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning platforms; experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is essential.
- Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS), freight forwarding (including NVOCC), fleet management, and dispatching processes.
- Knowledge of lean methodologies, process improvement techniques, and continuous improvement strategies to optimize workflows.
- Ability to manage budgets effectively while maintaining high service levels; experience with profit & loss responsibilities is preferred.
- Skilled in supervising diverse teams; excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff towards shared goals.
- Familiarity with 3PL providers, procurement processes, shipping & receiving protocols, and materials handling equipment such as forklifts.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to utilize supply chain analytics tools for forecasting and decision-making purposes.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating across departments including production planning, purchasing, transportation planning, and distribution centers.
