The AWP Yoga and Mindfulness Provider is a part- or full-time yoga instructor role serving clients of all ages in mental health recovery, with an approach that follows AWP principles and mission to create accessible, inclusive, and fully-customized wellness services delivered on-site, in-home, outdoors, or via telehealth. The Yoga and Mindfulness Provider is responsible for supporting clients in making accessible yoga and mindfulness practices an important part of their recovery journey through 1:1 interventions for mind-body connection, such as accessible and inclusive movement practices, physical poses, breathing techniques, meditation, mindfulness activities, use of sound, and tours of local yoga and mindfulness spaces (e.g., nature centers, yoga studios, etc.).
The AWP Fitness Provider is a part- or full-time personal trainer role serving clients of all ages in mental health recovery, with an approach that follows AWP principles and mission to create accessible, inclusive, and fully-customized wellness services delivered on-site, in-home, outdoors, or via telehealth. The Fitness Provider is responsible for supporting clients in making accessible movement an important part of their recovery journey through 1:1 interventions such as basic fitness education, exploration of natural & pain-free movement, exercises for overall physical mobility and joint health, movement for self-regulation, workout & home practice planning, stretching/self-massage, muscular endurance and strength-training, cardiovascular activity, outdoor activity, and tours of local fitness spaces (e.g., recreation centers, gyms, dance studios, etc.).
The AWP Nutrition Provider is a part- or full-time Nutritionist or Dietitian serving clients of all ages in mental health recovery, with an approach that follows AWP principles and mission to create accessible, inclusive, and fully-customized wellness services delivered on-site, in-home, outdoors, or via telehealth. The Nutrition Provider is responsible for supporting clients in making food an important part of their recovery journey through 1:1 interventions such as dietary assessment, nutrition education, food journaling, meal planning, food preparation and cooking skills development, and tours of local food spaces (e.g., farmer’s markets, grocery stores, food pantries).
Required Skills and Education:
- Education specific to the role (all position REQUIRE a relevant Bachelor's degree as outlined below):
- Yoga: Completion of at least a 200-hr YTT (e.g. 200-RYT or equivalent), PLUS a relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree in human services (e.g. criminal justice, psychology, social work, education) OR exercise science, integrative health, or other areas related to the profession.
- Fitness: Certified Personal Trainer or similar certification from an accredited program (e.g. ACE, NASM) PLUS a relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree in human services (e.g. criminal justice, psychology, social work, education) OR exercise science, integrative health, or other areas related to the profession. A certification may not be required for individuals with degrees such as exercise science or kinesiology.
- Nutrition: A relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, integrative health, or other nutrition-related field; OR relevant Bachelor's or Master’s degree in human services (e.g. criminal justice, psychology, social work, education), with the addition of a nutrition-related certification from an accredited program.
- At least one year of related work experience is strongly preferred but not required. Professional work experience related to mental health and healthcare is a plus, including an understanding of HIPAA.
- A valid WI driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel to in-home appointments and occasional client transportation to/from sessions within Milwaukee County.
- Comfortability with working in clients' homes anywhere within Milwaukee County (approximately 75% of services are provided in-home, virtually, or at community locations).
- Excellent professional communication and customer service skills. Daily phone and email communication is an essential part of the job.
- Strong writing and computer skills: this role involves daily progress note documentation in an electronic medical record system.
- Ability to work independently with solid organization and time management skills. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and integrity.
- Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus but not required. We are always seeking cultural liaisons from any/all backgrounds!
Hours and compensation: At Ascent Wellness Program, we know that the way we treat our providers ripples out into the services our clients receive, so our culture is one that values community, open communication, acceptance, and support. Our positions begin with an orientation period (approx. 2-4 weeks), during which employees receive valuable training on innovative, research-based body-mind practices, along with a gradual introduction to client services.
Starting pay typically ranges from $30-35/hour, paid either on an hourly basis (part-time) or salary commission basis (full-time). There are opportunities for monthly bonuses and annual pay increases based on job performance and years of service.
