Experienced Automotive Diagnostic Technician

We're Looking for a Technician Who Can Diagnose—Not Just Replace Parts
We are seeking an experienced automotive technician with proven diagnostic skills to join our independent repair shop. This position is for a technician who is confident troubleshooting complex drivability, electrical, and mechanical problems and can consistently identify the root cause of an issue.
If your approach to diagnostics is replacing parts until the problem goes away, this position is probably not the right fit.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, works efficiently, and takes pride in fixing vehicles correctly the first time.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose complex drivability, electrical, engine performance, ABS, HVAC, suspension, steering, and transmission concerns.
- Perform accurate testing before recommending repairs.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, scan tool data, service information, and technical bulletins.
- Use professional diagnostic equipment to pinpoint failures.
- Complete repairs with attention to quality and efficiency.
- Perform quality inspections and road tests.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Communicate findings clearly with service advisors and management.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate:
- Has at least 5 years of professional automotive repair experience.
- Has strong diagnostic abilities with electrical and drivability systems.
- Understands testing procedures and doesn't rely on guessing or unnecessary parts replacement.
- Is comfortable using scan tools, lab scopes, DVOMs, and service information.
- Can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Takes ownership of their work and stands behind their repairs.
- Has a positive attitude and works well with others.
- Has a valid driver's license and their own professional tools.
