What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler/Driver position at Summit Truck Body?
Summit Truck Body has served the commercial truck and transportation industry in the Portland metro area for over 35 years, building and mounting dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated vans. In support of our growth, we are looking for a Material Handler/Driver in to manage incoming and outgoing shipments, warehouse operations, and the safe transportation of parts and equipment, and company box trucks.
Your role and what you can bring to Summit:
- Receiving product from a variety of sources, including common carrier deliveries, hand-trucks, flatbed trailers, and vans.
- Inspecting deliveries to ensure accuracy and product quality.
- Staging and loading completed box trucks; ensuring loads are secure and within proper guidelines.
- Safely driving and transporting company trucks with van bodies to and from customers, vendor warehouses, and Summit locations (Portland and Kent, WA).
- Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the facility and warehouse.
- Stocking product to the proper inventory areas and notifying management immediately of shortages and overages.
- Performing cycle counts of inventory upon request or as scheduled.
- Assisting Management with other various tasks as requested, including yard maintenance and truck washing.
- Maintaining a safe work environment at all times and reporting any unsafe conditions to management immediately.
- Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging forklift batteries and lubricating equipment.
- Overseeing the work area and keeping equipment in a clean and orderly condition, following prescribed safety regulations.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Experience or Education
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment with shifting priorities.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs consistently.
- Forklift driving experience required.
- Experience operatingbox trucks or medium-duty vehicles preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Must have your own transportation.
- Pre-employment background check and drug test required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
