Housekeeping Floor Technician

Are you someone who takes pride in creating and maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments? Summit Square Retirement Community is looking for a detail-oriented Floor Tech to join our team. In this role, the floor tech plays a key role in ensuring our community remains a comfortable and clean space for our residents, visitors, staff, and more!

• Floor & Carpet Care: Regularly inspect and maintain all flooring, including daily cleaning of high-traffic areas and entryways, spot-treating carpets, and shampooing as needed to uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
• Daily Cleaning Tasks: Clean and scrub dining areas and high-traffic common spaces, keep entryways clean and debris-free.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Safely operate floor care equipment such as extractors and buffers; clean and maintain tools to ensure proper functioning and readiness.
• Detail & Deep Cleaning: Perform routine deep cleaning of vents, baseboards, ceiling lights, and other surfaces to maintain a high standard of hygiene throughout the facility.
• Team Support & Communication: Promptly report maintenance issues, safety concerns, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors using the appropriate channels. Assist with additional duties as assigned to contribute to a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions and take appropriate action based upon the information available.
• Prior experience in floor maintenance field preferred.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Current Virginia driver’s license and meets driver eligibility requirements per Sunnyside policy HR069.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision.
• Ability to work with confidential information and maintain its’ integrity.
• Strong customer service skills; maintain a hospitality approach when engaging all individuals.

Physical & Environmental Considerations:

• This job operates both indoors and outdoors with normal lighting levels, comfortable temperature ranges, good air quality, ventilation and moderate noise levels. General housekeeping environment with varying indoor floor surfaces and outdoor surfaces.
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 35 lbs or less and occasionally more than 40 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
• General hazards related to floor cleaning duties. Hazards related to exposure to floor cleaning supplies. Minimal hazards if safety precautions are followed and personal protective equipment is used when needed. Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials while cleaning.
