Primary Job Function:
The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Specials Teacher is responsible for planning and providing specialized, standards-based learning experiences (Art, Music, Physical Education, or Health) that foster the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of every student in alignment with Ohio’s Learning Standards and the District’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Ohio Teaching License/Certificate for the specific subject area (e.g., Multi-Age P-12 in Art, Music, PE, or Health).
- Ability to pass Federal (FBI) and State (BCI) background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or subject-specific field.
- Experience with Differentiated Instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and educational technology integration.

Instructional Design and OTES Alignment
- Aligns instruction with Ohio Learning Standards and the OTES 2.0 framework.
- Develops measurable learning objectives and Professional Growth Plans (PGP) based on student data.
Differentiated Instruction and Assessment
- Employs varied instructional strategies and technology to engage learners in critical thinking.
- Implements formative and summative assessments to provide feedback and meet diverse needs (IEP, 504, EL).
Learning Environment Management
- Maintains an organized, safe, and respectful classroom climate.
- Manages student transitions and behaviors effectively across various school settings.
Specialized Program Oversight
- Manages subject-specific equipment, inventory, and safety protocols (e.g., instruments, kilns, athletic gear).
- Organizes student showcases, performances, or fitness events to foster community engagement.
Professional Collaboration and Communication
- Participates in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and interdisciplinary integration with core teachers.
- Maintains proactive communication with families regarding student progress and adheres to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Subject-specific Ohio Learning Standards and trauma-informed practices.
Skilled in:
- Digital literacy, organizational management, and verbal/written communication.
Ability to:
- Adapt instruction for diverse learners and maintain composure in high-energy or loud environments.

Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. In PE and Music roles, significant physical activity (demonstrating movements, lifting equipment) is required. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
Working Conditions – The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children. Exposure to loud environments (Music/Gym) is common.
Driving Requirement – This position may require driving to various school sites or events.
