Job Summary/Objective:
The RN Nurse Manager provides strategic leadership, direction, and oversight for all nursing and medical operations across Summit Pointe’s outpatient, integrated care, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs. This role ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care that aligns with organizational values, regulatory requirements, and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) standards.
The RN Nurse Manager serves as the central link between clinical practice and operational management, overseeing the work of medical staff, mid-level providers, and nursing teams—including Medical Clinic Nurses, Integrated Care Nurses, Complex Care Nurses, and ACT Nurses. The position promotes excellence in service delivery, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensures adherence to evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives.
This position requires a balance of clinical expertise, operational acumen, and leadership skill to cultivate a culture of professionalism, accountability, and innovation. The RN Nurse Manager mentors and supports staff to achieve excellence in patient care while ensuring that all nursing activities align with Summit Pointe’s mission to provide accessible, compassionate, and integrated behavioral and physical healthcare to the community.
Essential Duties and Functions:
- Provides leadership and oversight for daily operations of nursing and medical teams across outpatient, integrated care, ACT services and Infection Control.
- Coordinates and manages provider and nursing schedules to optimize workflow, productivity, and access to care.
- Oversees clinical workflows to ensure coordinated, efficient, and customer-centered service delivery.
- Ensures adherence to nursing and medical protocols, standards of care, and regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborates with physicians, mid-level providers, and behavioral health teams to advance integrated physical and behavioral healthcare.
- Implements and monitors CCBHC standards and CHAMPS billing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Participates in the development, revision, and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Leads and supports quality improvement and performance monitoring initiatives to enhance care quality, safety, and operational outcomes.
- Promotes staff development and professional growth through coaching, competency evaluation, and performance feedback.
- Engages in workforce planning, including hiring, onboarding, and retention of qualified nursing personnel.
- Supports effective communication and collaboration among nursing teams, mid-level providers, and administrative leaders.
- Monitors documentation practices to ensure completeness and accuracy in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in accordance with agency standards.
- Ensures compliance with all safety, infection control, and risk management standards, promptly addressing potential safety risks.
- Promotes a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented culture that prioritizes customer safety, dignity, and empowerment.
- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves clinical and operational issues using data-driven decision-making and problem-solving approaches.
- Participates in organizational committees and contributes to strategic initiatives that advance integrated care and system improvement.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational goals and service excellence.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or a related field preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
- Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in nursing management required.
- Experience in behavioral health, community mental health, or integrated care strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience overseeing multidisciplinary or multi-site clinical teams preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of integrated behavioral and physical healthcare models.
- Working knowledge of CCBHC operations, CHAMPS billing, and relevant state and federal compliance requirements.
- Proven leadership and team-building abilities with a focus on staff engagement and development.
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, clinicians, and administrative staff.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-focused, and customer-centered care principles.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in all situations.
