What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safe Launch Inspector position at Summit Plastic Molding?
Summit Plastic Molding is a plastic injection molding company in Shelby Township, MI and has been in business for over 40 years and are growing in the automotive industry.
We are looking to add additional 1st shift Safe Launch Inspector; the shift runs 6:00am-2:30PM
SUMMARY
Responsible for the flow and inspection of new launch products, internal containment, customer concern/rejection containment, packaging, labeling. Assist with operator training as necessary, back up for online auditing of product. Additional job duties could be assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform inspections - 100% Visual Inspection of products for any molding defects or abnormalities per Safe Launch instruction.
Pull samples for measurement requirements for sc/cc dimensions and log per Customer Requirements and sampling plan
Record and report all parts inspected and findings.
Participate in product audits (gage R&R, capability studies) as directed by the Quality Supervisor.
Verify 100% correct parts to packaging, labeling and correct quantity in boxes/ totes.
Communicate/Review findings with Quality Supervisor to determine corrective actions.
May perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and segregate acceptable and non-acceptable products.
Communicate and prioritize with Shipping manager to ensure on time deliveries of contained material
Record all findings accurately and communicate with Quality Supervisor.
Provide input to quality Supervisor of recurring defects
Champion containment and inspection for Customer/Internal CA process.
Promote continuous improvement (Kaizen)
Back up to floor Auditor as directed.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform accurate and timely inspections in accordance with Summit/Customer requirements.
Complete all assignments within an established schedule, not to cause undue delay.
Maintain accurate records.
Ensure a smooth and successful product launch focusing on quality, risk mitigation, and adherence to established procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, General Education Degree (GED),
1-year minimum experience in plastic injection molding or 1 year in Quality
Safe Launch Inspection experience a plus.
Ability to effectively communicate with all personnel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Use of measuring equipment, calipers, gage pins, fixtures, etc..
Ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with all employees.
Physically able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
Able to use both hands.
