Position Summary The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a professional, organized, and patient‑centered experience. This role supports clinical operations by managing front‑office workflow, verifying insurance eligibility, processing documentation, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Reception & Communication
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, courteous manner.
- Answer incoming phone calls, route calls appropriately, and provide accurate information.
- Schedule, confirm, and modify patient appointments while maintaining provider availability and clinic workflow.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding services, paperwork, and visit requirements.
Insurance Verification & Eligibility
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Document coverage details, copays, deductibles, and authorization requirements.
- Communicate benefit information to patients and clinical staff to ensure accurate billing and compliance.
Medical Records & Documentation Management
- Process incoming and outgoing medical records requests in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policy.
- Scan and upload documents, forms, and clinical correspondence into patient charts with correct labeling and categorization.
- Maintain accuracy and completeness of electronic medical records (EMR) to support clinical decision‑making.
- Assist with clinical documentation workflows, including routing provider notes, updating patient demographics, and managing required forms.
New Patient Intake & Administrative Support
- Process new patient paperwork, ensuring all required forms are completed, signed, and entered into the EMR.
- Collect and verify patient identification, insurance cards, and demographic information.
- Support daily office operations, including managing waiting room flow, preparing charts, and coordinating with clinical staff.
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; healthcare office experience preferred.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency with EMR systems, scanning tools, and standard office software.
- Knowledge of insurance terminology, medical records processes, and HIPAA requirements.
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
