SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for managing and coordinating all organization safety activities and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all employees; developing and implementing accident prevention programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Develops, implements, and monitors safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries; assists in minimizing overall workers’ compensation costs.
· Plans, implements, communicates, and monitors safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
· Audits various safety program elements of effectiveness; schedules and performs safety inspections; identifies issues and develops corrective action plans.
· Supervises, controls, and monitors fire prevention and firefighting activities.
· Investigates all accidents and injuries; recommends and/or coordinates corrective
actions.
· Develops and implements safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction with regard to hazards unique to any job assignment; provides training for new employees.
· Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations and web sites; maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations; distributes and/or posts new or revised safety standards that affect the company.
· Reviews and responds to OSHA inquiries.
· Identifies potential safety hazards at all facilities; reports hazards and recommendations for eliminating/reducing to management.
· Coordinates with other departments on design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
· Encourages employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates repairs as soon as possible.
· Encourages employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job, even a slight cut or strain, immediately.
· Maintains records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the safety industry.
· Carries out management responsibilities per the organization's policies and applicable laws.
· Prepares and maintains accurate and timely safety reports as required.
· Be an advocate for safe work habits, and a safe work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing company standards, GMPs, PPE requirements, and procedures.
· Complies with safety rules and ensures compliance with OSHA standards, and state and local regulations including FDA standards.
· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, management, team members, and other departments.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, OR one to two years of related experience and/or training, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
· Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
· Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
· Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
· Working knowledge and experience using general office software.
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, leadership, and analytical skills
· Possess high professional ethics, dependability, good judgment, and the ability to take decisive action
· General Professional Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English (bilingual a plus)
· Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: stand; walk; sit; use hands finger dexterity, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift, push, or move items up to 50 pounds. Use visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and use a keyboard. Frequently work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally work in high, precarious places. Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and loud noises. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires work in both an office setting and a warehouse setting. Work occasionally requires “after-hours” communication or extended work hours, including weekend or evening work. Working conditions in the warehouse setting may or may not be environmentally controlled resulting in hot or cold temperatures.
