You’ll play a key role in helping our members achieve their homeownership dreams by underwriting both portfolio and secondary market mortgage loans with accuracy, empathy, and efficiency.
What You’ll Do
- Underwrite mortgage loans in accordance with SCU and investor guidelines.
- Ensure data integrity and complete documentation in all files.
- Support lenders and processors with real-time feedback and expert guidance.
- Collaborate with the Mortgage Processing Department to meet underwriting timelines.
- Maintain knowledge of tools like Desktop Underwriter, Loan Prospector, and WHEDA.
- Contribute to internal audits and compliance efforts.
- Help develop underwriting and program guidelines aligned with credit union strategy.
- Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in every interaction.
What You Bring
- Associate’s degree in business, finance, banking, or real estate preferred.
- 4 years of experience in credit analysis, mortgage lending, or secondary market operations (or a Bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience).
- Strong knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and intermediate Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
