Job Summary
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a positive, competitive, and student-centered athletic program that aligns with the school’s mission and values. This position assists with planning and conducting practices, supervising student-athletes, supporting skill development, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and helping ensure the safety and well-being of students during practices, competitions, and team activities. The Assistant Coach works collaboratively with the Head Coach, athletic staff, administration, students, and families to contribute to a successful athletic program while maintaining compliance with school policies, league regulations, and applicable athletic governing body requirements.
Requirements / Qualifications
• Previous coaching experience, playing experience, or experience working with youth preferred • Knowledge of general athletic principles, sportsmanship, and student supervision practices • Ability to support the development of student-athletes in skill building, teamwork, discipline, and character • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and families • Ability to maintain professionalism and serve as a positive role model for students • Ability to work collaboratively under the direction of the Head Coach and Athletic Director • Availability to attend after-school practices, games, tournaments, and occasional weekend events • Ability to supervise students in a safe and structured environment • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to start) • Completion of all required onboarding, background clearance, and Live Scan fingerprinting • TB clearance • Ability to meet school, league, and athletic governing body requirements, including required coaching certifications and trainings, if applicable Preferred Qualifications • Previous assistant coaching or athletic experience in a school setting • Experience working with middle school or high school students • Knowledge of CIF rules and athletic eligibility requirements (if applicable) • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
