Description:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Wear covered toe shoes
- Wear uniform clothing ascribed by company standards
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements
- Use assigned tools in safe and proper manner
- Report broken or missing tools
- Proper fueling of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines
- Mow turf areas with riding or walk behind mowers
- Trim and edge around sidewalks, flower beds, and walls using string trimmer or edger
- Blow grass clippings and debris throughout the community
- Use of power tools to trim, edge, blow, cut, clip and prune
- Proper use of fertilizer application equipment
- Operate transportation vehicles
- Operate tractors with attachments (sweeper, broom, blower, bush hog, etc)
- Installation of sod, seasonal color, mulch
- Pull weeds and rake grounds as needed
- Help load and unload work equipment
- Help keep equipment clean and organized
- Be able to lift 50 lbs frequently throughout an eight-hour day
- Have reliable transportation to and from assigned work site
- Report to work on time and if unable to, prior notification is mandatory
- Always cooperate with fellow employees, management and residents
Training:
- Operations with riding and push mowing equipment
- Fueling procedures
- Hand tool operations – gas, electric and handheld
- Spreaders and calibrations
- Landscape work – laying sod, planting flowers, mulching, raking, blowing, trimming, etc
- Basic irrigation repairs
Tools and Technology:
- Operate all equipment used by landscape maintenance crew
- Riding mowers, push mowers, hydrostatic mowers, lawnmowers
- Hand tools – rakes, shovels, saws, clippers, trimmers, pruners, spreaders
Work Context:
- Outdoors, exposed to different weather conditions
- Very hot and very cold temperatures (above 90 F degrees and below 32 F degrees)
- In an open vehicle or equipment
- Spend time standing or walking
- Exposed to cuts, bites, stings and sun burn
- Wear common protective clothing or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves and hearing protection
