Position Summary:
The Literacy Resource Teacher provides targeted reading instruction and intervention to students identified with READ plans. This role focuses on accelerating student literacy growth so that students can access and perform at or above the 25th percentile with grade-level content. The teacher collaborates with staff to ensure effective, research-based literacy practices are implemented consistently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, explicit, and systematic literacy instruction to students with READ plans
- Deliver targeted interventions in phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary development, and sight word recognition
- Use data from assessments to plan, monitor, and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs
- Progress monitor students regularly and maintain accurate documentation aligned with READ plan requirements
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and intervention teams to support student growth
- Support implementation of evidence-based literacy strategies across classrooms
- Communicate student progress with families and school staff
- Participate in problem-solving teams and contribute to literacy-focused decision-making
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching license
- Completion of READ Act training through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) required
- Demonstrated knowledge of the science of reading and structured literacy practices
- Experience providing literacy intervention, particularly in phonemic awareness, decoding, and vocabulary development
- Strong ability to analyze assessment data and use it to drive instruction
- Effective collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students on READ plans
- Training in evidence-based literacy intervention programs
- Background in supporting struggling readers at the secondary level (if applicable)
