The Retail Pharmacy Tech is responsible for providing operational support for the Pharmacy Department under supervision of the Pharmacists
Essential Functions
- Accurately and efficiently enters prescriptions into computer system.
-Assist sthe pharmacist in day to day operations of the pharmacy.
- Bills insurance and resolve insurance issues as they arise.
- Delivers medications to patients being discharged from the hospital.
- Handles telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist.
- Assists with inventory management and ordering.
- Provides excellent customer service to our patients.
- Responsible for registering customer sales; including over the counter medications and herbal supplements.
- Miscellaneous clerical duties.
Other Duties
- Participates in departmental and association wide informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings, association wide forums, and seminars.
- Reviews department and association wide policies and procedures annually. Develops and maintains new policies and procedures as needed.

Abilities
- This position requires knowledge of medical terminology, operational knowledge of general equipment and office equipment in the Pharmacy department, including: fax, printer, phone systems, computer, and commonly used association computer programs (including Hospital Information Systems, Microsoft Office, e-mail, and internet).
- Must be service oriented and have excellent computer skills, math skills, communication skills, customer service skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and telephone etiquette.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands
Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demands are in excess of those of Sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Worker is exposed to extensive computer work.
Required Education and Experience
- AZ State Board of Pharmacy Technician license.
