What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Pharmacy Tech, Full Time, Day Shift position at Summit Healthcare?
The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for providing operational support for the Pharmacy Department under supervision of the Pharmacists.
Essential Functions
- Gathers medications to be distributed to departments and omnicell.
- Delivers medications and requested items to departments and omnicell.
- Prepares IV admixtures and delivers to med rooms.
- Gathers medications to be delivered to patient drawers.
- Maintain patient records.
- Communicates effectively with healthcare providers and nursing.
- Performs monthly unit inspections as assigned.
- Performs Home Medication Reconciliations on all admitted patients.
- Miscellaneous clerical duties.
- Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards.
- Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
Other Duties
- Supplies medications for area paramedic boxes.
- Participates in departmental and association wide informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings, association wide forums, and seminars.
- Reviews department and association wide policies and procedures annually. Develops and maintains new policies and procedures as needed.

Abilities
- This position requires knowledge of medical terminology, aseptic techniques and compounding, and operational knowledge of general equipment and office equipment in the Pharmacy department, including: fax, printer, phone systems, computer, and commonly used hospital computer programs (including Hospital Information Systems, MS Office, e-mail, and internet). Must be service oriented, have excellent math skills, communication skills, customer service skills, organizational skills, multitasking skills, professional interpersonal skills, time management skills, the ability to prioritize work, and telephone etiquette.
