Our People: In this department, you'll work closely with a group of nurses highly regarded by our physicians. These dedicated nurses' prime focus is advocating for patients, ensuring they receive the compassionate and skilled care they require. The staff in this department will treat you like family. They enjoy spending time together, both during and outside of working hours.


Our Department: This department is an 18-bed Telemetry/PCU unit. Our patient population primarily consists of Cardiac, Neuro, and Pulmonary related care. Join us in our big plans to expand our skills and knowledge as our department continues to grow.


Job Summary


This position serves to provide productive learning experiences for the new graduate nurse after the acquisition of the Arizona Registered Nurse.


Essential Functions

  • Participates with other disciplines in the planning, implementation, evaluation and modification of nursing care and gives direct nursing care.
  • Performs nursing procedures following Tiered Nursing Orientation and competency checklists for which competency has been established and signed off. Each skill must have been observed and validated by the nurse preceptor.
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate suggestions and criticisms objectively and, when necessary undertakes to change behavior or seek further guidance.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality through participation in continuous improvement activities, offering constructive suggestion for change and improvement in the hospital/unit’s overall operation and efficiency, and sharing information and evaluation effectiveness.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to change which directly or indirectly impacts on job responsibilities.
  • Practices listening skills when dealing with concerns, complaints, questions, demonstrating objectivity in emotional situations.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to fellow workers needs as they relate to the job by providing support, giving advice or referring to appropriate sources of help when needed.
  • Shares responsibility for team assignment and unit workload and helping others.
  • Consistently conforms to department dress code and maintains appearance suited to position.
  • Maintains punctual attendance for all assigned duties.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and accepting assignments.
  • Demonstrates initiative and motivation in managing and utilizing time.
  • Maintains own time card accurately.
  • Demonstrates active participation in professional growth activities.
  • Identifies and pursues own educational needs.
  • Attends staff meetings or reviews meeting minutes when absent.
  • Satisfactorily completes all mandatory in-service education programs annually (BLS, Re-Orientation, Competency Skills, etc.).
  • Utilizes opportunities for cross training.

Other Duties

  • Maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of the people we serve, our physicians/healthcare providers, and our fellow employees.
  • Master the skills needed to do your best for the people we serve.
  • Participates in departmental and association wide informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings, association wide forums, and seminars.
  • Reviews department and association wide policies and procedures annually. Develops and maintains new policies and procedures as needed.

Physical Demands


Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, and extensive computer work.
