REPORTS TO: Manager, Consumer Lending Underwriting
LOCATION: Rochester
HOURS: 37.50 hours per week
SALARY: $78,500-$89,500
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm
Position Summary
The primary function of the Indirect Lending Account Executive is to develop new, and manage existing, business relationships with auto dealerships throughout the three-region footprint. This individual must be a subject matter expert on indirect auto loans, as well as indirect balloon auto loans for dealers.
Essential Responsibilities - Must be capable of performing the following essential responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, as outlined below.
- Creates a business plan that defines the sales strategy and approach.
- Proactively solicits new dealerships and generates meaningful relationships with existing dealerships for all indirect auto loan initiatives.
- Manages dealer relationships to achieve volume objectives/loan goals which includes visiting participating dealers each month. Low volume dealers will be visited every other month.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all indirect lending programs and policies offered by The Summit as well as a general understanding of loan products and services offered by the credit union.
- Acts as liaison between dealers, The Summit’s Consumer Lending Department, and Auto Financial Group (AFG) in resolving problems, discussing underwriting details, contract details, and answering questions.
- Acts as the primary advocate to ensure all parties are effectively communicating and working together.
- Provides training and information to dealers so that they can access the AFG website, view balloon products, and set up needed documents on their dealer system. Conducts dealer training presentations as needed.
- Attends various meetings within the community or trade associations to gain new auto business prospects.
- Assists in the creation of promotions for the dealers and be responsible for the timely distribution of prizes or rewards.
- Tracks dealer trends concerning loan applications compared to closed indirect loans.
- Writes or assists in the writing of letters and/or notifications to dealers.
- Maintains an up-to-date dealer contact log.
- Maintain and compile monthly statistics on Indirect Lending and report results to management.
- Maintains an awareness of all laws and regulations plus developments or trends within the credit union industry as well as Indirect Lending.
Other Responsibilities
- Adheres to Credit Union and Consumer Lending procedures.
- Assists branch staff with loan policy questions.
- Provides support to the accounting department by collecting any charge back money that is over 30 days past due monthly.
- Participates in special assignments and projects as requested by management

Qualifications and Skills
Education & Experience - Applicants must possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience:
- Education: A four-year degree in a business or related field
- Experience: 2 years of indirect lending (or equivalent) experience, or combination of education and experience
- Must possess working knowledge of credit unions and dealership processes
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including Technical & Systems/Equipment Proficiencies)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have computer skills including Word and Excel
- Must be able to conduct presentations to dealers, potential members if needed
- Must be able to write correspondences and memorandums effectively
- Must have strong organizational skills
- Must have the ability to multitask.
Physical Requirements
- Must be available to take telephone calls from dealers after hours as well as on weekends as necessary
- Must be able/available to take dealers to events after hours and/or weekends
- Must be able to travel to regional locations
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time in an automobile
- Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation
