Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Survey Party Chief with at least three years of field experience across a broad range of survey types. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality and safety. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team and contribute to impactful projects in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform NCDOT Surveys and Verification, including but not limited to: construction staking, bridge layout, as-builts.
• Perform survey computations and assist with data collection.
• Train and mentor junior survey technicians in the use of equipment, field procedures, and safety protocols.
• Maintain a high standard of accuracy and productivity in all survey work.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of all survey equipment.
• Provide support in technical field tasks as needed.
  
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of survey experience.
• Proficient with GPS, RTK, VRS, and robotic total station equipment.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a strong plus.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and maps.
• Skilled in making accurate field calculations and job planning.
• Strong attention to detail, with excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Physically able to walk rough terrain, stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform field work in various weather conditions.
• Ability to travel as needed, including overnight stays
