What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Seasonal - Public Works position at Summit County?
Summit County is seeking summer seasonal help in Public Works. Will be working fulltime, without benefits, from spring through late summer. Will perform working level tasks as needed to construct, maintain, or repair county roads, service systems, including work zone traffic control flagging or spraying weeds on County roads and properties. Will also be removing and chipping brush and timber around designated communities at risk to wildfire throughout the County. Candidates may use small tools, sprayers, equipment, flagging panel, chainsaw, chippers, and other hand tools to dispose of debris. Training will include flagging class, chainsaw operation, chipper use, pruning techniques and hazard fuel identification and chemical safety if assigned to spray weeds.
Salary Range: $21.00/hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years old with high school diploma or receiving high school diploma this spring.
- Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License.
- Must attend a work zone traffic control flagging course and receive a Flagging Certification Card. (Class will be at the County’s Expense.
