What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker I position at Summit County Government (CO)?
Summit County Government is seeking a hard-working and dependable SCRAP Maintenance Worker I to join our Solid Waste team. This role is essential to maintaining clean and efficient recycling and landfill operations. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, and ready to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
High school diploma or GED, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job are a plus. Valid Colorado Driver License at time of and throughout employment. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Assist customers dropping off hard-to-recycle materials
- Sort recyclables and maintain drop-off centers
- Clean and maintain buildings, fences, and litter control areas
- Perform basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment (greasing, fueling, checking fluids)
- Operate light tools and equipment (hand tools, pressure washers, UTVs)
- Wash and clean vehicles, equipment, and facilities
- Shovel snow and perform other manual labor tasks as needed
- Maintain professional communication with customers and coworkers
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND FORMAL TRAINING:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years old. Valid Colorado Driver License (required at time of hire and throughout employment). Clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
